DUCK & GOOSE IN HUNTING CHILE AND ARGENTINA

It was back in 1989 when our company realized the opportunity there was for organizing quality wingshooting operations for the international sportsman. It was our very fly-fishing clients who insisted on the idea of applying our outfitting experience onto wing shooting. That was the beginning of a sequence that made Hunting Chile pioneer what later became some of the best-known shooting areas in Argentina and Chile.
Over the years we have successfully operated dove shooting in Córdoba, goose and quail shooting in the valleys of San Martín de los Andes , Buenos Aires province  as well as in Chilean Patagonia and Viedma, and perdiz and duck shooting in Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires province as well as the famous Lakes District in Southern Chile.

Over the last several years we have found some of the highest quality duck shooting there can be found in Argentina and Chile today and we have developed our latest duck-shooting program which we call Waterfowl paradise.

You will find majestic Rosy-billed pochards cruising through the pampas' skies decoying into the marshes and potholes, but the most predominant duck, and maybe the star of the show, may very well be the yellow-billed pintail that will respond to calling and will lock its wings and dive into decoy spreads readily every time. There's also the striking colored southern widgeon a special duck with a distinct call and that flies in distinguishable rolling formations, the red shoveler, the white-cheeked pintail and four species of teal: the predominant speckled teal, the silver teal, the cinnamon teal and the ringed teal all of which fly low and fast darting through the breeze into the decoys.
The hard flying black-headed duck is a big part of the show and the white-faced and fulvous whistling ducks are also very abundant. Daily bags of ten or more species are not uncommon.
Working from a very comfortable estancia accommodation, just a few hours drive from Buenos Aires international airport in the case of BA province or shorter distances in the cases of Corrientes , Entre Rios , Santa fe or santiago del Estero, in the heart of Argentina's corn belt, we have secured prime time shooting at several ranches and farms in the area.
In Chile , waterfowl can be found in central Chile ( Santiago Airport) , Lakes District (Temuco or Osorno Airport) and southern patagonia ( Punta Arenas or Balmaceda Airport)
Typically our daily schedule includes a wholesome breakfast at the Estancia lodge, followed by a morning over decoys. After a late-morning end, you'll return to the ranch for lunch and a well-deserved siesta. Then more afternoon duck shooting until dark. Dinner finally caps off a perfect waterfowl day.
As hunting aesthetics are an important principle in our operation, we would like to emphasize the fact that Blind Ambition is committed to making great strides with dry-blinds, decoys, duck calls and other important additions to the daily hunts in order to make this a top quality experience. Most duck shooting is from dry blinds, however we strongly recommend bringing chest-waders since more than once you'll need to walk in water in order to get to the blinds.
In general terms , Argentina's and Chile's lakes, marshes and rivers are home to over 30 species of ducks, all different from North American species. They're such a "nuisance" that they're still poisoned in the rice fields! Hunters normally take 4-8 different species on a trip including Rosy-billed Pochard; White-cheeked and Brown Pintals; Southern Widgeon; Silver, Speckled and Cinnamon Teal; and a variety of Tree Ducks. Hunting is from blinds over decoys and, yes, the volume is what you've heard it was.
Best time of the year for waterfowl is between April and August although special permits are available the whole year round.Geese is also available between April and August.
