Cougar hunting in Argentina

This autochthonous feline of our country is found along a vast territory which covers from the north of Argentina up to the Southern extreme of the continent. It is well adapted to the Patagonian mountain as well as the semi-desert region of the Province of La Pampa. With carnivorous characteristics it eats the small fauna of the its region of influence such as viscachas, Patagonian deers, etc. And eventually the young of the cattle and sheep.
Its fur varies according to the region it inhabits, going from the light brown to a more grayish color. The male is heftier than the female and reaches a weight of 120 kg. The female are in heat when the summer finishes and can generally give birth to two or more cougars. It is a very elusive animal and therefore very difficult to find. Since it is a great predator it has a stealthy pace and it is not unusual that many times the hunter himself is surprised by its sudden presence.
The hunt can be done by stalking the animal, at night, waiting for him in watering places where he goes to drink during the hot nights of the summer months, or by chasing it with dogs especially trained to find it and "pack him", that is to say, the cougar when feeling trapped challenges the dogs protecting its back against some plant or going up it.
Shooting distance average: 30 mts. Adequate calibers: .308 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield
